Auburn Junior High School is located in Auburn, Alabama; home of Auburn University. Auburn Junior High School is an eighth and ninth grade complex with a student enrollment of over 1400 students. Auburn band students begin instrumental instruction in the seventh grade at the East Samford School.
The Auburn Junior High School band program is in its ninth year under the direction of Mr. Joshua Wine and has a current membership of over 200 students. Students are placed by audition into one of three concert bands. The program also offers Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Methods, and band students in the ninth grade may choose to participate in the Auburn High School Marching Band, directed by AHS Director of Bands, Mrs. Deanna Marshall. AJHS bands perform for the annual Fall and Spring Concerts, End of the Year Concert, and Music Performance Assessment.
Previous performances by the AJHS Bands include the STARS Performance Series At Universal Studios, Alabama Music Educators Association In-Service Conference and the Southeastern United States Band Clinic. The bands have placed first at Music In the Parks Festival, Williamsburg, Virginia; All-Star Music Festival, Orlando, FL; and Dynamic Music Festival, Orlando, FL.
